Laus Æterna + Patrick Afchain

Laus Æterna (Céline Remy, Florence Stache, Johan Trenti, Jean-Luc Manzi, Louis-Marie Croisez, Franç*Xhrouet) + Patrick Afchain

In recent years, the Laus Æterna vocal octet, initially dedicated to sacred Renaissance music, has broadened its repertoire to include world spirituals from all eras. Resonating with current environmental concerns, it’s only “natural” that they have come up with a program based around nature, to celebrate its profound beauty and the bonds we forge within it. We invite you on a journey through diverse soundscapes (Gregorian, Hasidic or Japanese chants, madrigals, mantras, romantic poetry…), bringing together the two traditionally opposed terms of “nature” and “culture”. In this way, we will attempt an exercise in reconciliation or communion, which we believe “our sister Mother Earth” (St. Francis of Assisi) needs in the face of the inconsistency of our actions on her climate and biodiversity. May Beauty save the world (Dostoyevsky) – or at least help to save it – through the joint action of nature and culture and the symbiosis of our voices.

During the second part of this concert, Patrick Afchain takes you into the world of harmonic sounds through gongs, monochords, Tibetan bowls,…. Through subtle and soothing sounds, this unique session, inspired by Chinese and Tibetan traditions, invites the audience on a meditative journey that focuses on relaxation and the balance between body, mind and spirit.
